Yankees may have signed Erubiel Durazo
According to this article the Yankees have signed Erubial Durazo to a minor league contract. I did some cross checking, just in case, and according to the Monterrey Sultans official website, Durazo may actually be joining the Yankees, or at least the Scranton Yankees. I'll ask around the club house today.
The Yankees signed Durazo back in 2006, but he only played a bit for Columbus. He hit .290-2 HR-10 RBI with the team.
Oh, and as it turns out, Karim Garcia plays for the Sultans as well.

Sultan's official website article
Translation of the later:
From this date, Erubiel Durazo is going to form part of the Yankees of new York, this thanks to the narrow relation that exists with this organization ties wholesale, since they are requiriendo a left-handed batter and the Sultans Baseball Club of Monterrey offers this opportunity of beating to Durazo, facilitating the contract and yielding their rights to the new yorkers, that will locate it in principle, in AAA.
Notes:
Also, from what I gathered from both articles (I did take a few years of Spanish) part of the deal is rushing Durazo to the majors. He apparently wants to be in New York within the next two-three weeks.
Do I think he can help the Yankees? It's tough to say. He has always been a very patient hitter and has some good power, but he is a butcher in the field. There is plenty of upside, and if the Yankees can find a bat that can spark the lineup for cheap, they can focus on acquiring pitching by the end of July.
Update: Durazo hit .354/9 HR/42 RBI/25 BB/29 K/.446 OBP/.582 SLG this year with the Sultans. Against righties, he hit .371; and hit .462/4 HR w/ RISP. Hey, he could honestly help the Yankees this year if he plays a decent 1B. I suppose this signing may mean no Shelley Duncan promotion though.
Update 2: Just got back from Scranton, and learned from Peter Abraham that the Yankees have not signed Durazo. Nobody in the Scranton clubhouse has heard anything either, but we'll see in the coming days. It was a tough call to begin with, I had two articles that pointed to the same thing, both from official sites, I apologize for my hastiness in reporting such a deal, I was just excited to bring you all news as fast as it broke. Thanks for not jumping down my throat or anything.

good find
he was good with the athletics a few years ago
how soon do you think he will be up dan? think we will see him before the deadline?
any one can find trash in the junkyard.
thats true, but the Yankees have found some decent players in the trash, and they have helped out for at least a season:
Edwar Ramirez
Karim Garca
Aaron Guiel
Nick Green
Aaron Small
Scott Proctor, sort of
Shawn Chacon
John Olerud
2003 Felix Heredia
Sometimes you can just find lightning in a bottle, ya know?
Hey, David Ortiz was released by the Twins, thats how the Red Sox got him. Let's at least give Durazo a chance before calling him trash.
Although ,he has sucked for a while.
this blog is awesome-keep it up dan!
according to Brain Cashman, per Pete Abraham (LoHud Yankees Blog), Durazo has not been signed.
Great blog site. Was translation done by software program? It was terrible. Sorry
Yea, it was done with some internet site. Not sure the name of the translation program, I just wanted to get it out quick.
Thanks for the heads up. I normally leave a margin for error in my stories by adding question marks in the headline. Try it and see if it works for you...and if a story turns out to be true...change it to a period lol.
I checked the minor league rosters but no sign of Durazo. I thought the Yankees were holding back that.
Excellent website. Good work. Very useful. I will bookmark!
