Yankees sign Ben Broussard

This is a very recent move, because he was not with the team at all this weekend, but the Yankees have apparently signed Ben Broussard to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Scranton. He'll likely see a decent amount of time at first base and the outfield, and could wind up in New York if Shelley Duncan and Morgan Ensberg continue to struggle or Jason Lane opts out of his contract. I think the Yankees will give Lane a shot eventually. Matt Carson and Scott Strickland were placed on the disabled list to make room for Broussard and Alberto Gonzalez, who was recently added to the roster in lieu of the Wilson Betemit promotion.

Great move by them. Broussard has had success when deployed correctly and it really couldn't hurt.
